"PakGermanDosti": HSF Pakistan Celebrating 70 years of Diplomatic Relations

LAHORE, PAKISTAN: HSF Pakistan joined other German organizations in celebrating “DostiKay70Saal” and "PakGermanDosti" on November 5th & 6th at the Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall Lahore. These two German Days were organized by the German Missions in Islamabad and Karachi, the Annemarie-Schimmel-Haus and the Honorary Consul of Germany in Lahore in association with the Lahore Arts Council.

Dr. Steffen Kudella, the Resident Representative of HSF Pakistan, headed the Team HSF Pakistan attired in traditional Bavarian dresses. Team HSF Pakistan exhibited the operations of the organization spanning democracy, peace, and development along with inter and intra-regional connectivity activities propagating civic education among various sections of society, specifically youth.

Dr. Kudella said:

Friends like and trust another and they actively support one another. Germany and Pakistan have been friends since more than 70 years. I feel honored and grateful to contribute to this important friendship! This friendship is as fruitful as diverse, as we can see at the German Days in Lahore.

HSF also introduced its latest project on Pakistan-Afghanistan regional stability by providing scholarships to Afghan students who are registered as Afghan refugees and enrolled in institutes in Pakistan.

Moreover, a unique feature of the HSF stall was the traditional Bavarian bread “Pretzel” which managed to attract many visitors both of German and Pakistani origin who exuberantly enjoyed the experience. The German Consul General, H. E. Holger Ziegeler, while paying his esteemed visit to HSF’s stall savored the true taste of the traditional Bavarian bread (see header photo with Siemens Managing Director Markus Strohmeier).

The two-day event commenced with a colorful display from more than 30 German organizations’ representative stalls from all over Pakistan exhibiting their work. The inauguration of the event began with the welcome address by H. E. Bernhard Schlagheck, Ambassador of Germany. A series of events were lined up for the two-day celebration presenting the diversity of art and culture including fun activities, fascinating exhibitions, film screening and great fusion music.

Day one proceeded with corporate interlocution with company executives visiting the stalls, whereas day two was dedicated as a family day welcoming people to inform of the work and presence of German companies in Pakistan while distributing a lot of giveaways among the people and children.
