Model CCI Provincial Round Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN: Hanns Seidel Foundation Pakistan, under its flagship program Model CCI, organized the provincial round of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in Peshawar to debate on the topics related to democratic devolution and foster democratic values in the students. A total of 40 participants from 8 public universities of KP debated topics relevant to Council of Common Interests (CCI) and center–provincial importance over a three-day long event. 

Making the event impactful in terms of learning, the participants were introduced to politicians, bureaucrats, professors and lawyers to provide inside into the nuances and practicalities of the CCI and its functioning. 

Some of the notable speakers were Mr. Adnan Jalil, former caretaker minister of trade and industry, Mr. Masood Khan, Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination Department KP and Dr. Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, former Inspector General of Police KP, among others.

On the concluding day, students paid a visit to the provincial assembly of KP for an exposure visit. Secretary and Additional Secretary of the Assembly gave a very thorough presentation on the rules and procedure of the assembly, both procedural and administrative, followed by a question answer session. 

Secretary of the assembly, Mr. Kifayat Ullah, distributed certificates among the participants of MCCI Provincial Round, and shields/souvenir were presented to KP assembly secretariat staff from HSF Pakistan. This was followed by a guided tour to the assembly hall, and concluded with a group photo.
