Awareness at Grass Root Level: Political Cadre Development Program Training in Okara

OKARA, PAKISTAN: The Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Pakistan in collaboration with the Shaoor Foundation for Education and Awareness (SFEA) organized a three-day training on the topic of “Democratic Devolution and Local Governance” for multiparty political cadres in Okara, Punjab from February 22-24, 2022. This training has been part of a series of capacity building activities under their jointly implemented Political Cadre Development Program (PCDP) series.

The objective of the PCDP series is to strengthen political party workers and political influencers on the grass root level with regard to: essential concepts of democratic devolution, 18th Constitutional Amendment and democratic devolution, local government system, governance challenges, identification and resolution techniques. Furthermore, it aims to provide them with practical tools to implement the training lessons, especially with regard to local governance and social stakeholder management, such as press relations and community mobilization.

The three-day interactive training was attended by more than 30 district and tehsil level political workers and office bearers from all major political parties along with lawyers and media persons. The participants actively engaged in all activities and enthusiastically participated in the interactive sessions. The learnings from the training will be further disseminated via community action plans by the participants.
