Training on Entrepreneurial Skills Development for Afghan students at the Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar

PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN: Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Pakistan and National Dialogue Forum (NDF) in collaboration with the Institute of Management Sciences (IMSciences) Peshawar recently concluded a three-day training program on Entrepreneurial Skills Development for Afghan students. The training was held from 7 to 9 March 2023 at IMSciences Peshawar. The program aimed to equip the Afghan students receiving scholarships under the Hanns Seidel Scholarship Program (HSSP) with the skills and knowledge to become successful entrepreneurs and contribute to the economic development of their country.

During the three-day training, Afghan students were introduced to the opportunities provided by the National Incubation Center and the Business Incubation Center in Peshawar. The program focused on teaching them essential entrepreneurial skills, such as business planning, marketing strategies, financial management, and leadership skills. Additionally, the participants had the opportunity to interact with accomplished entrepreneurs, allowing them to gain insights from their experiences.

The opening and closing sessions of the three-day training were attended by officials from the Commissionerate of Afghan Refugees Peshawar, who provided information on recently initiated projects for Afghan refugees and responded to any queries raised by the participants.

The participants conveyed their appreciation for the chance to attend the training program and acquire valuable knowledge from it. As the development of entrepreneurial skills is crucial for Afghan refugees to achieve self-sufficiency, financial stability, and establish sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families, they recognised the significance of the training program.

The training was attended by 16 HSSP scholarship holders belonging to different parts of Pakistan.

HSSP aims to support talented Afghan students in Pakistan in contributing to the rebuilding of their home country when returning to Afghanistan. The students are officially registered as refugees in Pakistan and enrolled at Pakistani universities. In line with the policies of the Government of Pakistan, HSSP offers financial grants, conceptual support, and professional development opportunities.
