Practitioner Course on Local Governance in Germany and Switzerland

The Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Pakistan is inviting applications of interest to a practitioner training with a focus on local governance, to be held from 9-19 October 2022 in Switzerland and Germany. The course will be organized by HSF in cooperation with IFF, University of Fribourg, Switzerland.

It will also include the participation in the EU funded Local Government and the Changing Urban-Rural Interplay Conference 2022 in collaboration with Eurac Research, Bolzano, Italy.

Objective

The objective of this Practitioner Course is to bring together, and engage with one another, those who practice local government worldwide. The participants should have a solid understanding of how local government systems and challenges, identification and resolution techniques practically work.

Approach

The participants will be given the opportunity to exchange and network across their countries and regions. Through an appropriate framework program, they will also gain insights into the local governance models in Fribourg, Switzerland and Munich, Germany.

Eligibility criteria

  • An experienced practitioner of local governance from Pakistan or Afghanistan
  • With good English language skills
  • No age limit

  • Brief cover letter reflecting their interest in local governance (maximum one page)
  • CV including relevant engagement (maximum two pages)
  • High quality profile photo
